Today, 12th October 2013, the Beijing Energy Club was honored by the visit of Her Excellency Anna-Karin Hatt, Minister for Energy and Information Technology of Sweden.
Ms. Hatt was accompagned by H.E. LarsFredén, Ambassador of Sweden to China and 10 other people from Sweden.
Dr. Xavier Chen, President of the Beijing Energy Club, and a few other members of the Club, received the Minister and her delegation.
Dr. Chen presented the Beijing Energy Club, its mission and achievements so far, as well as Club's view on China's challenging energy outlook and shifting energy priorities.
Ms. Hatt presented the Swedish energy policies by highlighting Sweden's remarkable achievement in the renewable energy sector. "With renewables representing 50% of total energy mix, Sweden has the highest renewable energy penetration among the EU member states", she said. She was particularly proud that Sweden has both electricity generation sector and residential heating sector free of fossil fuels. "While fossil fuels still represent 90% of our transportation fuels today, we are studying the possibilities to make the transportation sector also free of fossil fuels by 2030", she said.
Ms. Hatt expressed the desire to share experiences and co-operate with Chinese government and companies on renewables, energy saving, smart grid and use of waste for power generation, to make our common future more sustainable.
